"We know you're bout it bout it, but it's how you go about it!"
Blu & Exile has thus far been one of my favorite Hip-Hop duos. In 2007, the "new Pete & CL" may very well have been "Exile & BL." After releasing the critically acclaimed, Below the Heavens, as well as other side projects (i.e. C.R.A.C.), Blu is back. Though, this time, he's laying it down with a different sound and teaming up with another new producer. In case you haven't heard, Johnson & Jonson is Blu's latest side project and collaborative effort with producer, Mainframe. After hearing a couple of tracks from J&J's latest album, I'm pretty excited about its release. Powder & Oils is set to drop September 23 on Tres Records. Until then, you can catch J&J on tour in San Francisco, San Diego, as well as Los Angeles's Grand Star Jazz Club, where J&J will be holding their album release party.

Son of Ran w/ DJ Virus at HOB San Diego!
It's been awhile since I've made an event post (or any post for that matter). However, skimming through the usual myspace bulletins, one in particular caught my attention. Sky City's very own Son of Ran will be performing with DJ Virus on August 31 in downtown San Diego!
Quoted from Son of Ran's myspace calendar:
"DJ Virus and Son of Ran return to rep the PrimeTime Specialist for Victory Entertainment’s 10 year anniversary. Come and check out one of the best sets designed by them so far... Sneak peaks of Ran’s new album to be performed - Incoming Message Classic. Expected to be in the house that night, Messanger Family, Sky City Crew... Peace out to Electric Shockers, PnoyAppCo, Acrylick.net, Orisue Familia, 9Five, People Like Us, BattleStar, Freddie Joachim, and all affiliated!"
SD-heads, don't sleep on this one!
