Two-Thousand-Nine

In the midst of trying to find a new job, and preparing for upcoming biggg thangs, I've come to neglect the Fresh Cuts Radio blog. Sad, yes I know, but unfortunately, I will not be renewing my show for the Spring 2010 quarter. 2009 has been a fun year. One of graduating, divebar exploration, Vegas trips (wheelchairs), and dysfunctional laptops, but putting that aside, I've also neglected to do something I normally do out of tradition, which is post my obligatory end-of-the-year "list," so without further ado, here are my personal favoritos tracks of 2009, in no particular order.

1. Phoenix "Lisztomania" (Classix remix)

This year, I have been in love with Phoenix's Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. While the album in itself is strong, there have been some great remixes put out and this is one of my favvvs.

2. Mayer Hawthorne "Maybe So, Maybe No"

"Could it be that your love was meant for me...maybe so..maybe no?" This is a question I have pondered many times. Thank you. Mayer Hawthorne, for channeling the lovelorn angst within me into a a tune with so much soul.

3. Noisettes, "Never Forget You"

As many times as I've heard this song on One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, etc, I never get sick of it. Loving the revival of retro-soul style vocals.

4. Dam-Funk, "10 West"

This one nearly tied with "Hood Pass Intact" for my favorite instrumental of the year. Toeachizown is laced with some amazingly smooth G-funk inspired instrumentals. Stones Throw Records never fails me.
